Members might be interested to know that DVSA has recently announced its support for the Voluntary Register of Driver CPC Trainers (VRT). The register is independently run and aims to validate the skills and experience of periodic training instructors in the classroom.  By passing the VRT examination, instructors on the register demonstrate that they can deliver a consistently high standard of vocational driver training.

DVSA and JAUPT have worked with VRT to set out the standards of instructional ability required of a Driver CPC instructor in line with DVSA’s National Standards for LGV and PCV Driving. It is not mandatory for periodic trainers to apply to join the register but it can be recognised as evidence of a trainer’s skills and experience when applying for course approval.

We will obviously update you with more information as we find out more about this new scheme.
